Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you

Happy Holidays too,

Or Happy Hanukkah maybe

Santa’s been under the tree.

Though gifts, it’s much more

It’s beliefs that’s for sure.

Give thanks and love your own way,

Enjoy family and friends on this day.

Be merry and eat

Relax, stay off your feet.

From our house to yours

From across the shores,

We wish you happiness and health

And some New Year wealth.

May your year have been full of adventure and the year ahead be even better!

Much love

Auctions

Jack and I are getting sorted and trying to find cheaper alternatives to new furniture etc that we know is not in the ‘yet to be delivered’ lot.

We found a new source with Lloyds Auctions online and scored pretty well this past week. We picked up 8 outdoor chairs for the back patio for the princely sum of $65 (with auction buyers premium add 12.5% = $73), 3 black mesh backed office chairs for $15 (with one going to my hairdressers son as we only needed 2) and a brand new, still in the wrapping, 7 layered, commercial grade queen mattress for $500 (RRP$3950) 😳😜 absolute bargains!

Back to the outdoor chairs. So with a few extra bucks for cleaner and oil annnnnd a little bit of sweat and elbow grease, the chairs are looking pretty nice! Hmmm one chair short of the can though so we will have to go to the hardware store for more.

Before

Cleaned

After – thinking another coat will be required after they dry.

Not a bad days work in between chasing the dog a couple of times because he snuck out to go the neighbors and annoy their dog before returning when found! Lol!

They are a little patchy in colour but I figure I can pass that off as a ‘rustic intention’.

And THAT my friends is Boxing Day! Almost time for a swim!

Cheers

P.S. dog behaving now while I am outside typing this.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Jack and I would like to wish all our family, extended families, cowboys and cowgirls near and far, a very Merry Christmas!

Cracker interjected and would also like to wish everyone a happy season of fun, drinks, love and family. It’s his last night for a while!

For those not near your loved ones, for those in hospital, our heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you.

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄🎅🏻🥂

Love and hugs 😘

Territorial Marshals Christmas Shoot

Baby it's cold outttttttsidddde! But hey!? We missed the great blizzard of 2018 that they were predicting which would have canceled the party. Haa haa, we got nothing, not even ice on roads that they downgraded it to.

So we headed out to the range where some brave souls came to play and shoot!

Plenty of selfies with some great folks today!

Cracker hung around in various locations.

Then we had a play with some different firearms which was a whole lot of fun before heading to the main club house for lunch.

The Club Championship buckle was presented to top shooter Roy's Creek Dan. In the next division, Men's – Gun A Doit, Ladies – Highland Scottie. For the Pistoleers it was a dead heat between Stoney Cahill and Hurricane Deck and the Sharpshooter Concho went to Gun A Doit after 3 previous draws of which the recipients were not present to win! Jack's and my Top Hand picks were Highland Scottie and Gun A Doit, your concho's are on their way. Congratulations to all!

Dirty Santa followed. It took a while for folks to start stealing gifts from others although Slim was picked on about 6 times but ended up with a great bottle of whiskey.

Jack and I have plenty of drinking to do next couple of days!! Nah, maybe we will already have supplies for June next year!

Anyway we had a sensational time and will miss everyone here. We look forward to seeing you somewhere soon!

What A Great Week!

Although kind of hectic, we had a good week of visiting.

Tuesday evening Wild Horse John and Saginaw Sue came down, spending Wednesday with us and leaving Thursday morning.

We headed out Wednesday morning to Stockyard City, perusing the wares of a few stores, picking up Jack's boots and what else do you at the stockyards but dine at Cattlemen's.

Cattlemen's has been around since 1926, being one of the only Cafes that stayed open after sundown. They served many working at the stockyards and the meat packing facilities. Christmas Eve 1945, saw Hank Frey (then owner of Cattlemen's) and Gene Wade have a game of craps. When Hank ran out of money he put up Cattlemen's against Gene's life savings if Gene could roll a 'Hard Six' – two 3's!

Of course he did and the 3 3 brand is prominent on the wall in the Hereford Dining room in recognition of Gene's good luck that night. This story of Cattlemen's (my bits are just a shortened version of their history) is featured on the menu.

What can I say, THE best steaks, great sides and fresh rolls. It is always filled with people and often a wait line to get in. Tables are waited on by staff in black and white, while linen napkins adorn the tables with silverware and glasses. Cattlemen's Double Deuce beer is exceptional, with its Weissbier flavour.

As we rolled out the door and headed for the car it was decided that we should take our Wyoming friends to the Land Run monument. They hadn't seen it on previous visits to OKC and I knew there was at least 1 new installation to this great monument.

I will have to look back at previous photos to see just how many are new but I'm guessing there is at least 2 or 3 that I felt we had not seen before.

Further culling, more sewing and frustration ensued the next couple of days with some successes and not but Saturday we are headed for Leonard, Texas to play with the Texas Ten Horns.

Six great stages, themed around The Christmas Story, where little Ralphie wants a Red Ryder lever action BB gun. Good fun, great lines from the movie and a couple chances to win a BB gun and free shoot at the Great Spaghetti Western next year. Well done Ten Horns and well played!

Mary-Lou July caught up with her cousin Bubba November and suffice to say they had a blast. If nothing else they amused their own posse and themselves. Haa haa haa. Jingle your own dang bells! 🙂

After the stages we went in to Lea's for the Christmas party and Dirty Santa, heaps of fun had by all. We have made many great friends down there and will miss them all – another day filled with great memories.

To our hosts for the evening, Hairtrigger Hayes and One Chance Fancy, thank you again for having us. We thoroughly enjoy your company.

Thanks again, to you and yours

Wild Wild Christmas

Fourteen of us turned up to have a crack at some Wild Bunch stages today following the Cowboy Christmas shoot yesterday.

With the new rule's in place with 7 in a mag, it certainly made for a bit more thinking and exploring the world of tactical reloads. Sorta got to know what you're doin'! The sequence worked out better on some stages but need to know the finer points of mag changes etc for it to become smoother.

We shot 5 stages finishing around 2pm. Then we sat down for beer, brats. cowboy beans and sauerkraut. Special thanks to the Cowboys that hunt and make summer sausage and andouli venison sausage! It was divine!

Thanks Hondo Tweed and the crew for a great day, oh and the awesome fudge!!

Have yourself a wild Christmas!

Christmas Shoot with The Territorial Marshal’s

A chilly start to the day brought out 28 shooters for the Territorial Marshal's Christmas shoot.

Four stages trying to keep hands warm and working but the sun was shining and the breeze was light so you can't complain!

Jack decided he would try a 'mixed bag' of fun, testing his black powder loads and pistols, one of his Rugers, the .22 rifle (she says rolling her eyes) and his shotgun. Pity Santa hadn't been paying attention to which guns he packed in and put both of my pistols in the bag!!! Lol!

Jack had a ball with his mixed up shooting and I had a pretty good run. Plenty of laughs in any case.

More turned up for the Christmas party with a great dinner by John Elder's crew and restaurant. With tables cleared and a table full of gifts the 'dirty Santa' games began! Christmas gifts taken, stolen and everyone went away pretty happy with whatever they were gifted. I'm still in shock and awe that the quietest man on the range, Captain Lee, is actually funny and did a short magic medicine show. The 'Dad' jokes were abundant! Lol!

Tomorrow it's Wild Bunch and looking forward to 5 stages and a gathering of great cowboy's for more Christmas shooting fun.

…targets ring, are you listening, ……the brass, it is glistening, ……a beautiful sight, a shooters delight, walking down the marshal's cowboy range….. (And if you didn't sing that to Winter Wonderland then there is something wrong with you 🙂 haa haa haa)

An early Merry Christmas from Jack and I, may all your days be merry and bright!

Mary-Lou Does Christmas!

As Mary-Lou July reminisced with her 'sista' Mary-Lou June this week, both still separated by continents, she bugged the hell out of me about getting out again.

So I sent Mary-Lou July with Jack to the Ten Horns this weekend. She was so excited to go visit for their Christmas shoot and party. I hoped she would be on her best behaviour but as always with Mary-Lou July, life IS like a box of chocolates and you never know which one you're gonna get – more than likely the nutty one!

She had me make her a new costume especially. I wasn't exactly thrilled about the 'cat' fur she decided she wanted but with the addition of 4 bells she found (don't ask), I guess she is ready for anything. At least the Ten Horns might have a chance of hearing her coming before they get to endure the nonsense.

Jack being a good sport, took his antlers she found for him (no reindeer were hurt during this process and they definitely aren't Rudolph's!) and they headed out early this morning.

The Texas Ten Horns had a good turn out of 61 shooters on a glorious sun shiney day. It was so good to see Smokin' Limey out and about too even though she wasn't shooting! And Pistol Packin' Pami, so glad you came and hung out with them on the posse.

The afternoon followed 6 great stages with their Christmas party! What a hoot!, gifts going in all directions! Buckles and conchos given to the clubs top hands, overall yearly champs and so on. Congratulations to Hillside Hannah and Dirt Hill Bill for overall club championship points winners!

Mary-Lou July was over the moon with her first shooting match, Jack said she had taken on some good tips from me and she managed to finish 5th overall yesterday and 1st overall today. Thanks to the RO's for putting up with the antics and silly lines she started with.

Jack finished 14th overall on Saturday and 7th overall today. Good one Jack!

She probably won't be back but thanks for bearing with her!! It's all good fun but I can't subject her to folks too many times, lol!

Merry Christmas!

Kat xo

P.S. A very special thanks to Hairtrigger Hayes and One Chance Fancy for hosting our stay Saturday night. Was a great night chit-chatting, we will definitely do it again. Love and hugs to you both.

Merry Christmas!

As 2016 draws to a close, I am reminded of the many adventures, scenery, museums, memorials, shoots and miles I have travelled to and from with Jack.

It has been another exceptional year that started off a little rocky whilst we waited for Jack to have his heart surgery. We can be extremely thankful for fantastic medical care and rehabilitation as it allowed us to continue with further adventures.

There are many around the world who are not in the best of health and to those we know we wish you all the very best in health and good spirits for a wonderful Christmas and New Year with your families.

The last couple of days has been spent with friends and today with Miss 20, we have had a day of eating, drinking, more eating and for her and I – baking Christmas treats for the Boxing Day gathering of Jack's kids and grandkids. It's been phone calls to family, messages, laughter, love and chilling out.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Lots of love and hugs,

Kat and Jack xo
